This eight-session course traces the historical and theological journey from the early Hebrew Patriarchs to the emergence of Christianity within the Jewish world of the first century. Through historical context, scripture, and discussion, students explore the shared roots of Judaism and Christianity and gain a deeper understanding of how both traditions developed from a common foundation.

Rabbi Jay Shupack

Rabbi Jay Shupack has spent more than sixty years studying Jewish history, scripture, and tradition. His teaching focuses on helping Christian audiences understand the Jewish historical and cultural context in which Christianity emerged.

Throughout his career, Rabbi Jay has worked with churches, educators, and community groups exploring the shared roots of Judaism and Christianity. His approach combines historical insight, scriptural study, and thoughtful discussion that makes complex topics accessible to diverse audiences.

Through his course The Jewish Roots of Christianity, Rabbi Jay helps students examine the historical foundations of the Christian faith within its original Jewish setting, encouraging deeper understanding and respectful engagement between the two traditions.
